Mukhyamantri Mazi Ladki Bahin Yojana: Maharashtra government’s scheme is going to increase the trouble of fake beneficiaries under Chief Minister Majhi Ladki Bahin Yojana. Women doing government jobs are also taking 1500 rupees every month through this scheme. Such women should be alerted because the government is keeping an eye on your income. It should not happen that you get caught in the affair of 1500 rupees. Taking a major decision, the Central Government has given permission to the Women and Child Development Department of Maharashtra to see the data of Income Tax Return (ITR). This means that now the state government will be able to find out which women pay income tax and still wrongly taking advantage of this scheme.
What is a new decision?
The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) issued a notification on 3 June 2025, stating that under Section 138 (1) (a) (ii) of the Income Tax Act 1961, the Women and Child Development Secretary of the Government of Maharashtra has been empowered to use information related to income tax to identify the correct beneficiaries of the scheme.
What will be its effect?
This decision will increase the transparency and strength of the government’s dear sister scheme. Now women whose annual income is more than Rs 2.5 lakh, will be excluded from the scheme. With this, financial assistance will be provided to financially weak and indeed needy women.
Last week, Maharashtra’s Women and Child Development Minister Aditi Tatkare had revealed that more than 2,200 government employees were incorrectly taking advantage of it under the scheme. This decision will prove to be effective in preventing such fake cases.
