A 5.8 magnitude earthquake occurred in the Turki city of Marmaris in the early hours of Tuesday. This area is on the banks of the Mediterranean. According to the Turk’s disaster management agency, at least 7 people were injured while running from homes.
The earthquake came at 2.7 pm and its center was at the sea. The shock was felt till the island of Rhodes in Greece, where people woke up from sleep.
Marmaris Governor Idris Akbiyik said that some people jumped from the window or balcony in nervousness, causing them injuries. However, no major damage has been reported so far.
Earthquakes are common in Turkas as this country is situated on large seismic cracks.
In 2023, there was a 7.8 magnitude earthquake, killing more than 53,000 people and millions of buildings were destroyed. About 6,000 people were killed in Syria due to the earthquake.
