Mohammed Shami
The Indian team will go on a tour of England immediately after the IPL 2025 ends. A five -match Test series will be played between the two teams from June 20. The Main Senior Selection Committee announced Team India on May 24 for this series, in which fast bowler Mohammed Shami has not got a place. Before the announcement of the team, many types of talks were being done about Shami’s selection. Meanwhile, Chief Selector Ajit Agarkar, after announcing the squad, explained why Mohammed Shami has not been selected for the tour of England.
Due to this, Mohammed Shami was not selected for England tour
During the press conference, Ajit Agarkar was asked questions about Shami’s selection. Responding to this, he said that the medical team has told that he has been out of this series. He was trying to get fit for the tour of England, but he has faced some problems last week, after which he got MRI done. Agarkar felt that he would not be able to play the entire Test series of five matches. He was hoping that Shami would be available for some matches. But if they are not able to fit in time, then it will be very difficult to wait. This is quite unfortunate for the team as he wanted Shami to be a part of Team India for this series.
Shami is struggling with poor form
Mohammed Shami has not played a Test match for India for almost two years and he played the last Test match for India for India in the World Test Championship 2023 against Australia. After being out of the field from Team India for about 14 months due to injury, Shami returned to international cricket in January this year but he has not been able to do anything special with the ball so far. Shami is also struggling with poor form in IPL 2025 and he took just six wickets in nine matches this season. This is the reason that this experienced fast bowler could not find a place in the Test team.
