The incident occurred in the forests of Hindol when the forest department team suddenly attacked the team during regular patrolling. The name of the forest guard was Prahlad Pradhan, who was 37 years old. He went on patrol with a team of 13 people. The team was attacked at around 3 pm, in which Prahlad was shot in the stomach. In an injured state, he was first taken to Hindol CHC, from where he was referred to Angul District Hospital. However, doctors declared him dead.

Four hunters arrested

At the same time, after this attack, the Forest Department team immediately took action and caught four poachers. Weapons have also been seized from them. The rest of the attackers escaped from the spot, whose search is still going on. Dhenkanal’s DFO Sumit Kumar Kar said, “Our team went to the forest for a regular patrolling. During this time a gang of poachers started firing, in which Prahlad Pradhan was injured. He was immediately taken for treatment, but could not save his life. We have taken four hunters and questioning.”

Search operation continues

Explain that this incident not only highlights the dangers before the forest department, but also shows how risky employees deployed in the protection of forests work. Through interrogation of the detained poachers, efforts are being made to know who the rest of the criminals are and where they are hidden? A joint team of forest department and police is running a search operation continuously in the area. (Input- Shubham Kumar)
