Cases of HMPV virus spread from China are increasing in India, now 2 patients found in Nagpur; both are children

The cases of Human Metapneumovirus i.e. HMPV are increasing in the country. Now on January 3, two patients of HMPV infection have been found in Nagpur. These include a 7-year-old boy and a 14-year-old girl, whose report has come out HMPV positive. Both the children were suffering from cough and fever, after which they were tested and the report came positive.

7 patients found so far in the country

So far, 7 patients of this infection have been confirmed in the country. Before Nagpur, HMPV infection was confirmed in five infants in Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Gujarat on Monday. Meanwhile, the Union Health Ministry sought to allay fears, saying it was fully prepared to deal with any possible surge in respiratory diseases. HMPV is a virus causing respiratory disease globally. Recently, news of its outbreak in China caught the attention of the world. It is a viral pathogen that causes respiratory infections in people of all age groups.

State governments assured

The governments of Karnataka, Gujarat and Maharashtra have assured that there is no need to panic. At the same time, the Delhi government directed all the hospitals of the capital to be fully prepared to deal with the possible increase in respiratory diseases. The Union Health Ministry, Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) and National Center for Disease Control (NCDC) are keeping a close watch on the situation of this virus. The World Health Organization (WHO) is also paying attention to this and will share its report soon. He clarified that as per the data released by the Indian Council of Medical Research and the Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme, no significant increase in any common respiratory viral infections has been observed in India.
