US President Donald Trump signed the Tech It Down Act on Monday. This has now become a crime to share personal pictures or videos online without consent.
This law has been brought to prevent rising incidence of Revenge Porn and AI-generated deepfac photographs.
Under this law, if a person deliberately shares someone’s personal photos or videos without their permission, he will be considered a crime. Also, social media platforms and websites will have to remove such material within 48 hours and find its duplicate copy and remove it.
First Lady Melania Trump played an important role in passing this law. In March, he met Congress members and lobbied in favor of this law. The bill was supported by an overwhelming majority in both Senate and House.

In April 2025, he faced the process of exile after the Homeland Security unexpectedly canceled his F-1 student visa due to general traffic violation.
However, his visa was valid till February 2027. Nevertheless, the Student and Exchange Visitor Program Records were removed. Because of this, he could probably be prevented from completing his studies and graduation on May 10.
In such a situation, he filed a case. This was given a temporary preventive order by the Federal Court.
