Cghs: The old website of CGHS has been closed. The Flagship Health Scheme CGHS running under the Union Government’s Ministry of Health CGHS has launched a new Health Management Information System (HMIS) to improve its service system. This new digital system has come into force from 28 April 2025 and now the old CGHS software has been completely replaced.
Why the new HMIS system brought?
According to the Ministry of Health, the old CGHS software is being used since 2005. Now the CGHS system was not correct according to modern IT standards, cyber security and user experience. The new HMIS will increase the speed of the service and give better digital experiences.
Special things of new HMIS
1. PAN card based identity
Now every CGHS beneficiary will be identified on the basis of PAN number. This will eliminate the problem of duplicate records and will easily verification of eligibility. The beneficiaries are advised to link their PAN card to their CGHS ID.
2. Improvement in online payment
Now all the payment for CGHS will not be through Bharat Kosh, but only the new CGHS portal www.cghs.mohfw.gov.in. This will eliminate mistakes and refund problems.
3. First check the application, then pay
Now the application of CGHS card will be tested first and only then payment will be allowed. This will reduce canceled applications and will save time.
4. Changes in card now online
Works like card transfer, dependent members adding or removing, changes in pensioners category have now become completely online.
5. SMS and email alert
Now on every process you will get SMS and email alert, so that the situation will be found in real time and there will be no need to follow up again and again.
6. Password reset required
All users have to reset the password while logging for the first time so that your information can be safe.
7. DDO and PAO based department Identification
Now the verification of your department will be through Drawing & Disbursing Officer (DDO) and Pay & Accounts Office (PAO) code given in your salary slip.
8. New Mobile App
The new CGHS mobile app (for both Android and iOS) is now available. Now these facilities will be available in it.

Remember these things
The applications which did not pay till 27 April 2025 have been canceled. Such beneficiaries will have to apply again through the new portal. It is necessary to link their PAN card to CGHS ID to all the beneficiaries above 18 years. The cards already released will continue to work as before.
