Online aadhaar apply: The Aadhaar card has become the most important document for every Indian citizen today. From government schemes to private services, it is needed everywhere. The good thing is that if you do not have Aadhaar, you can start its process sitting at home. However, for the biometric process you will once need to go to the nearest base center.
UIDAI (Unique Identification Authority of India) has made the process so easy that you can book an appointment from your smartphone or laptop, fill the form and select your nearest Aadhaar Services Center.
Why is Aadhaar card necessary?

Process of making Aadhaar sitting at home
You can start the application from UIDAI’s website to get a new base. Let’s understand how this process works:
1. Go to UIDAI website
First of all you have to go to https://uidai.gov.in. There will be a choice of “Book an appointment” in “My Aadhaar” section. Choose it.
2. Select Service Center and City
Now you have to choose your city and nearest Aadhaar Seva Kendra. Then choose the option of “New Aadhaar”.
3. Fill the Aadhaar form
You will be sought basic information like name, date of birth, address, mobile number. An OTP will come on mobile, which will lead your information.
4. Give information about the necessary documents
You have to fill the information about identity, address and date of birth. These documents will have to take you on the day of appointment in physical form.
5. Select date and time
Now you can book date and time slots as per your convenience. On this day you will have to go to Aadhaar center and give biometric details.
What will happen to the center?
You have to undergo biometric process. There will be some special processes in this:
- Your photo will be taken.
- Fingerprints will be taken.
- There will be scanning of the eyes (iris).
- Documents will be verified.
After this you will be given an enrollment slip. It has a number, so that you can check the status online.
When will you get Aadhaar card?
The Aadhaar card is usually ready within 15 to 30 days. If you want, you can download it from UIDAI’s website in PDF or you can get physical copy by post.
How much does the fees cost?
It is absolutely free to make a new base. However, if you make some updates in Aadhaar, such as address, mobile number etc. can then ranges from ₹ 50 to ₹ 100.
