Virat Kohli
Indian team star batsman Virat Kohli announced a sudden retirement by taking retirement from Test cricket. He has taken this decision at a time when Team India has to visit England next month. Many cricket pundits are surprised because of his early retirement. Kohli scored more than 9000 runs in his long Test career and scored 30 centuries.
Virat Kohli is going through poor form
Virat Kohli was struggling with a very bad form for some time and it became difficult to get runs from his bat. The golden period was for Kohli from 2014 to 2019, when he scored runs on every ground in the world. But after this he went on to lose his rhythm. In between, he saw one or two good innings from his bat, but he failed on most occasions. From January 2020, he scored a total of 2028 runs in 39 Tests. During this time his average was only 30.72 and only three centuries came out of his bat.
Just 93 runs in three Tests against New Zealand
At home, he was also seen battling to score runs against New Zealand. Then he scored just 93 runs in three matches. Team India had to pay the brunt of his poor form by losing the match. The Indian team lost the Test series 0–3 against New Zealand at home. After this, he scored a century in the first match of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy against Australia, but after that his car derailed and he failed to score runs. Now the reason for his early retirement is also considered his poor form.
The Indian team will play a five -Test series against England next month. With this, the cycle of the World Test Championship 2025-27 for India will begin. Now before the new cycle of WTC, Virat Kohli retired, so that new players could get maximum chance. Now there is a chance to prove themselves on the entire England tour for the newly upcoming players in place of Kohli. Kohli had earlier told the BCCI that he wanted to retire from Test format.
