Ponting was about to return to Australia, but as soon as the news of the ceasefire came, he changed his plan and decided to stay in Delhi. He had an option to return to Australia, but he thought it better to stay in India in the interest of the team.

Not only this, he also ensured that the foreign players of Punjab Kings, who were preparing to leave from Delhi in this uncertain situation, stay in India at the moment. The players were afraid of the possibility of war, but Ponting interacted with them and encouraged them and prepared them to stay here.
The team’s CEO Satish Menon said in a conversation with PTI that it reflects Ricky Ponting’s personality. In such a situation, he could do this. He not only decided to stop himself, but also explained to foreign players and boosted their morale. Now all those players are going to join the team soon.

Some foreign players reached Delhi by train after the IPL match was canceled in Dharamshala on May 8. The group consisted of Australia’s Marcus Stoinis, Aaron Hardy, Josh England and Xavier Bartlet. A member of the team said that such a war -like situation was new for foreign players, so it was natural to fear them. He wanted to leave the country as soon as possible, led by Stoinis. But Ponting explained them and prepared to stay in India after ceasefire. This is really capable.
Only Marco Yanseen of South Africa was the only player who has left India despite being a part of the playing XI. However, he is currently in Dubai and may soon join the team amid reports of the IPL being resumed.
