Preparation to make Air India number one in every aspect
Chandrasekaran was responding to a question during a discussion with Ravi Vishwanathan, managing director of TVS Supply Chain Solutions Ltd, at an event at NIT Trichy here. He was asked what people can expect from Air India after the Tata Group acquisition in 2022. Chandrasekaran said that my commitment is to make every possible effort to make Air India the world’s top class airline. This will happen in hardware, flight experience, customer experience, technology and every aspect. In a light-hearted manner, he appealed to the audience present at the venue to request aircraft manufacturers Boeing and Airbus to quickly supply the aircraft as per the order of Air India.
Air India has ordered 470 aircraft
Air India Group has ordered a total of 470 aircraft – 250 to Airbus and 220 to Boeing. Responding to a question from Vishwanathan on the semiconductor industry, Chandrasekaran said there is a huge opportunity and Tata Sons’ investment in the semiconductor sector is about US$18 billion. He said, our semiconductor fab should become operational in 2026. So, whether it is the energy sector or the semiconductor sector, we have taken the lead and made a start. We have to create a complete ecosystem in the semiconductor sector.
