Among vegetables, tomato prices always remain in the headlines. If the prices increase, there is an outcry among the customers. At the same time, when the prices of tomatoes fall, the condition of the farmers becomes worse. Similarly, the prices of tomatoes have reduced considerably these days. Due to which the condition of farmers has become worse. Tomato, which was once sold at Rs 200 per kg, has today reached Rs 5 per kg. When tomato prices were expensive, growers were also becoming rich. But today the farmers who grow it are in distress. There is sadness on the faces of the farmers. The situation is that in many places tomatoes are being sold at the price of Rs 10 to Rs 5 per kg.

Let us tell you that the prices of tomatoes in Bundelkhand’s Sagar have fallen so much that they are not finding buyers. Those farmers whose fields were being reached by traders to buy tomatoes, are today calling the traders. There are such businessmen, but they are charging such low prices that farmers are holding their heads after hearing the price. Farmers are also surprised by such low prices.

What do farmers say?

Tomato farmer Satyanarayan Patel, while talking to Local 18, said that he has planted tomato crop in one acre. It rained due to sudden change in weather. It remained cloudy for two-three days. Due to which the tomatoes immediately ripened and turned red. The arrival of local tomatoes has increased everywhere simultaneously. In such a situation, the prices of tomatoes fell. No businessman has come to the village to buy tomatoes for three days. When I spoke on phone, they said the price for one crate (40 kg) would be Rs 30. That means tomatoes are being asked for at 60 paise per kg, cheaper than one rupee.
