The Larki Bahin scheme is now becoming a problem for the Maharashtra government. This scheme of the state government is not coming for the contractors and engineers working in the state. Till now, opposition parties were usually opposed to any plan. But perhaps this will be the first such scheme of the state government. Which is being opposed by the contractors. The contractors claim that their payment of Rs 89,000 crore has been stuck due to the Larki Bahin scheme in Maharashtra. This stuck amount is being told by many ministries.
The contractors claim that their payment has been stuck since the launch of the Larki Bahin scheme. No payment has been made for the schemes launched before the election. Due to this, the state government’s schemes are not gaining momentum. Many schemes are breathing their last due to not getting funds.
Rs 46,000 crore outstanding from Public Works Department
An association of contractors has claimed that the Public Works Department (PWD), Rural Development, Water Life Mission and many other departments have no longer paid for payment. The highest payment is stuck with the Public Works Department. 46,000 crore rupees are still outstanding from here. The Rs 18,000 crore is owed to the Department of Water Supplies and Sanitation (Water Life Mission). Similarly, Rs 8,600 crore is left from Rural Development Department, Rs 19,700 crore from Irrigation Department and Rs 1,700 crore from the work done under DPDC, MLA Fund and MP Fund. Overall, around Rs 89,000 crore is owed from all departments. Which the state government has not yet paid.
Meeting with ministers, yet the result is zero
Milind Bhosle, president of Maharashtra State Contractor Association, said that we have tried several times to talk to the Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Ministers. We have written to him about 6 times. But no letter has been replied till now. So on 5 February 2025, we were forced to stop the work. Milind Bhosle further said that on 18 February, there was a meeting with PWD Minister Shivendra Raje Bhosle. Despite this, the payment has not been received yet.
He said that delay in payment is not new. But since July 2024, the situation has worsened. Ever since the girl sister scheme, other schemes were started before the election. Earlier, payment used to be up to 40 percent. This was also difficult, but had to manage somehow. Now hardly 10 percent of the payment is made. Milind says that the government has no money. Whenever you go to ask, only assurance is received.
