According to the information, the leaders of the Trinamool Congress staged a protest before the Election Commission despite the implementation of prohibition on April 8, 2024 last year. In this case, summons has been issued to the leaders.

Hearing will be held on 30 April

The court has issued summons to the Trinamool Congress leaders after taking cognizance of the charge sheet in this entire case and the complaint filed by the Delhi Police. The court has decided to hear the case on April 30. According to police, TMC leaders gathered in front of the main gate of ECI on 8 April last year and protested with placards and banners without any permission. Section 144 was applicable during this period but the leaders ignored the warnings given repeatedly. After this, the police registered an FIR.

These 10 leaders of TMC summons

The 10 Trinamool Congress leaders have been issued summons by the court include Derek O Bryan, Mohammad Nadeemul Haq, Dola Sen, Saket Gokhale, Sagarika Ghosh, Vivek Gupta, Arpita Ghosh, Dr. Shantanu Sen, Abir Ranjan Biswas and Sudeep Raha.

Why were TMC leaders protesting?

In fact, TMC leaders had staged this protest last year demanding the dismissal of the heads of CBI, ED, NIA and Income Tax Department. The TMC had alleged that the ruling BJP government was misusing these agencies under political influence before the Lok Sabha elections. (With agency’s input)
