You must have read a recent news stating that the government is going to implement satellite -based toll system from May 1 across the country. But now the government denied this news on Friday, clarifying that the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MORTH) said that no decision has been taken in this matter yet. At present, toll collection is done through fastag, in which the hassle of cash is almost over.

This system will be posted at selected toll plaza

According to PTI news, the ministry said that through toll plaza, automatic number plate Identification (ANPR)-Fastag-based obstruction-free tolling system will be deployed on select toll plazas to enable uninterrupted, obstruct free movement of vehicles and reduce travel time. It states that ANPR technology in the modern toll system which will identify them by reading the number plate of vehicles and the existing fastg system that uses radio-frequency identification (RFID) for toll cuts will be combined.

Under this, vehicles will be charged on the basis of their identity through high -performance ANPR camera and fastag reader without stopping at their toll plaza. In the event of not following the rules, e-neotis will be issued to the violations, which can be suspended if not paid and other punishment can be imposed.
