Dasun Shanaka
IPL 2025 is being organized in a very brilliant style and fans are getting to see exciting matches. Now Dasun Shanaka has entered the Gujarat Titans team between IPL 2025. He is included in the squad replacing the injured Glenn Philips. The Gujarat team has paid 75 lakh rupees for Shanaka. He was unsold in the IPL 2025 mega auction and was not given him by any team.
Dasun Shanaka got place as a replacement of Philips
The finest fielder Glenn Philips suffered injuries while fielding as a substitute fielder in the match against Sunrisers Hyderabad. He fell in a circle to stop the stroke played by Ishaan Kishan and had to go out of the ground again due to pain. He was ruled out of IPL 2025 due to injury and has returned to New Zealand. In the current season, Philips did not participate in the playing eleven of a single match and sat on the bench all the time. Before him, Kagiso Rabada also left the Gujarat team and went home due to his personal region.
Shanaka has been a part of Gujarat Titans before
Dasun Shanaka has been a part of the Gujarat Titans team earlier and in IPL 2023 he played three matches for the Gujarat team, when he scored a total of 26 runs. Now in the middle of the season, he has a lottery and has got a chance to prove his ability. Shanaka has experience and has also been the captain of the Sri Lankan team. He has so far played 102 T20 International matches for the Lankan team with 1456 runs and has taken 33 wickets.
Gujarat Titans team at number two in Points Table
The team of Gujarat Titans has done well in the current season under the captaincy of Shubman Gill. The team has played a total of 6 matches, out of which four have won and two matches have been lost. His net run rate plus with 8 points is 1.081. He is at number two in the points table.
