Gainers & Losers: The beginning of the new year was great for the stock market. Important stock markets around the world remained closed today and the commodity market in India also remained closed in the second half. Talking about the equity market, domestic benchmark indices BSE Sensex and Nifty 50 came into the green zone after initial fluctuations and maintained their lead till the end. At the end of the day, Sensex closed at 78,507.41 with a jump of 368.40 points or 0.47% and Nifty closed at 23,742.90 with a jump of 0.41% or 98.10 points.
Talking sector wise, Nifty Realty has fallen by more than 1 percent while Nifty index of Auto has closed with a jump of more than 1 percent. On the first trading day of this year, due to special activities, some shares rose sharply and some fell sharply. Maruti Suzuki. Current Price: ₹11195.00 (+3.02%)
Car sales of the country’s largest car company Maruti Suzuki jumped 30 percent in December, so its shares also jumped 3.70 percent today to reach Rs 11268.00. The company had sold 1,78,248 vehicles in December whereas in December 2023 this figure was 1,37,551 units.
M&M. Current Price: ₹3076.45 (+2.31%)
M&M’s sales increased by 18 percent year-on-year to 41,424 units in the month of December, while its shares also jumped 2.67 percent intra-day today to reach Rs 3086.65.
SJVN. Current Price: ₹110.90 (+6.23%)
Shares of SJVN jumped 7.57 percent to Rs 112.30 after receiving a big order of ₹ 5663 crore from Bihar government. According to the agreement, the company will develop the 1000 MW Hathidah Durgavati Pumped Storage Project (PSP). There will be a tariff of Rs 9.39 per kilowatt hour and the calculation will be done at the price level of February 2024 and the pumping energy rate will be Rs 3 per kilowatt hour. This project will provide direct and indirect employment to 5 thousand people and investment of Rs 10 thousand crore can come.
NCC. Current Price: ₹278.35 (+1.61%)
On the last day of 2024, Dhamaal NCC received an order worth ₹ 350 crore, its shares jumped 2.43 percent intra-day to Rs 280.60. This order has been placed by a private company and is related to the building division. Work on this has to be completed in 32 months.
Power Mech Projects. Current Price: ₹2715.10 (+5.74%)
Shares of Power Mech jumped 6.21 per cent to Rs 2727.20 after receiving an order worth Rs 294 crore from Adani Power. Under this order, the company has got the work of overhauling services, condition assessment, erection, testing, commissioning and manpower support for performance guarantee test of Steam Generator (SG), Steam Turbine Generator (STG) and related equipment.

When NPCI postponed the date of implementation of the cap on UPI by two years, the shares of Paytm’s parent company One97 Communications fell 4.01 percent intra-day to Rs 976.55. NPCI had presented a proposal about four years ago in November 2020, according to which a maximum cap of 30 percent was imposed on the number of transactions through UPI, that is, no single digital payment firm can have more than 30 percent market share. It was to be implemented from the end of 2024 but according to the statement of NPCI, now it will come into effect from the end of December 2026.

Shares fell 1.51 per cent to Rs 15.63 after Nishant Pitti, co-founder and CEO of EasyMyTrip’s parent company Easy Trip Planners, resigned. A day earlier, Nishant had sold about 5 crore shares and the prices had fallen by about 10 percent. After Nishant, now his brother and company’s CFO Rikant Pitti has become the CEO of the company.

Due to falling sales in the month of December, Bajaj Auto shares slipped 2.86 percent intra-day to Rs 8550.00. Its total sales fell from 3.26 lakh units to 3.23 units in December 2024 on an annual basis. The market estimate was for sales of 3.55 lakh units.

Shares fell 12.54 per cent to Rs 9250.00 intra-day after TVS Holdings sold its entire 100% stake in TVS Emerald to VE ES Trading, a promoter group company, for ₹485.85 crore.
Escorts Kubota. Current Price: ₹3303.00 (-1.00%)
Escorts Kubota sales fell 11 percent year-on-year to 5,472 units in December 2024, while shares slipped 3.35 percent to Rs 3224.50.
