The Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YIDA) will now increase the price of agricultural land for industrial and urbanization projects. The authority will now buy agricultural land from farmers at the rate of Rs 4,300 per square meter instead of Rs 3,400 per square meter. According to the news of Hindustan Times, Yida may approve the proposal to raise the rate in her board meeting to be held on March 28. Yida has taken this decision after strong opposition being taken by the farmers.
Price was increased for Noida Airport Project
According to the news, in December 2024, in December 2024, the Uttar Pradesh government had increased the rate for land 3 and Phase 4 of Noida Airport Project from Rs 3,400 per square meter to Rs 4,300 per square meter. But then agricultural land was not brought under the purview of this price and the price remained at Rs 3,400 per square meter. The farmers started protests about this. The rate of Rs 3,400 per square meter was increased by Rs 2,650 per square meter. The government implemented it in October 2022.
Yida CEO said
According to the news, Arun Veer Singh, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Yida, said that we have prepared a proposal to give land to those farmers at the rate of Rs 4,300 per square meter, whose land is to be purchased for our industrial and other urbanization projects. It will also be ensured that farmers whose land has been fixed for development projects outside the project site of the airport, they get the same price, which is being given to the farmers of the land acquired for the airport. We will keep this proposal in the board meeting of March 28 and take approval.
Mukesh Bhati, a farmer from Mirzapur village, said that we are happy that Yida will increase the land rates to benefit the farmers. Bhati also said that if Yida does not increase the rates of land, then farmers will not give their land for development projects.
