Musk said this in response to a post on X.
Tesla owner and his associate in the Trump administration, Elon Musk, has once again given a statement on H1B visas given to foreign workers. Describing this program as over, Musk has talked about improving it on a large scale.
In response to a post, Musk said that this program should be improved by increasing the minimum salary and maintenance. Earlier on Friday last week, Musk had posted in support of this visa. In this post, Musk even vowed to fight for H1B visa.
Apart from Musk, Indian-origin Vivek Ramaswami, who is joining the Trump administration, is also in support of the H1B visa program. Every year about 45 thousand Indians go to America on this visa. Elon Musk also reached America from South Africa on H1B visa.
Trump reversed on H1B visa
America’s newly elected President Donald has changed his stance on H1B visa. After Musk’s post, Trump has also come in support of this visa. Till now, Donald Trump has been opposing this program.
While talking to The New York Times on Saturday, December 28, Trump said that he has always been in support of this visa. Trump said-
I believe in the H-1B visa. There are many H-1B visa people in my companies too. I have used it many times and it is a great program.
Donald Trump suspended this visa when he was President in 2020.
What is H-1B visa?
H-1B is a non-immigrant visa that allows American companies to hire foreign professionals for positions requiring specialized technical skills. Through this visa, companies in the technology sector recruit thousands of workers from countries like India and China every year.
H-1B visa is usually issued to those people who are associated with a particular profession (such as IT professionals, architecture, health professionals, etc.). Only those professionals who are offered a job can get this visa. It completely depends on the employer. That means, if the employer fires you and another employer does not offer you, the visa will expire.
Trump supporters’ opinions on visa are also divided among themselves
The opinion of Trump supporters regarding H-1B visa is also divided among themselves. Trump supporters like Laura Loomer, Matt Gaetz and Ann Coulter are openly opposing this visa. These people say that with H-1B visa, foreigners will get jobs in America and American people will lose their jobs.
On the other hand, Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy, who will soon handle the Department of Government Efficiency (DoGE) in the Trump government, have supported the H-1B visa. They say that to strengthen America economically, the world’s top people should be hired.
Only Indians get 7 out of 10 H-1B visas.
Let us tell you that America gives H-1B visas to 65,000 people every year. Its time limit is for 3 years. If needed, it can be extended for another 3 years. Indian people get 7 out of 10 H-1B visas in America. After this comes China, Canada and South Korea.
