Uber has launched a new Safety Service for Teenagers in India. The feature was launched by the US Transport Tech platform in the US in 2023. Uber has so far rolled out this safety feature in 50 countries of the world. In this feature, the parents or guardians of the teenagers can monitor their ride in real time. Teenagers aged 13 to 17 years will get the benefit of this feature in Uber Ride. The company has officially announced this feature. Many users have also spotted this feature.
According to the Gadgets 360 website, this feature has been seen in the app of some users. This feature is seen in the account page section. Through this, parents and guardians can invite their teenagers children to access the app. According to the report, the company is testing this service as a pilot project in some cities of India. It is currently being tested in Bengaluru, Delhi-NCR and Mumbai. In the coming weeks, it will be tested in 35 more cities of the country, including several big cities including Ahmedabad, Chennai, Hyderabad.
How does the feature work?
This safety feature of Uber gives parents or guardians the facility of adding contact details of their teenagers children. For this, parents have to send invite. This feature can be used after the teenagers accepted the request. However, before sending invite to teenagers, the Guardian must add credit or debit cards to his credited. Teenagers will get freedom to choose their payment option while booking rides.
The company told in its support page that through this safety feature, the ride location of the Guardian Teenagers will be able to monitor the real time. Apart from this, they will also get audio recording of interaction between the driver and the teenagers. It will be locked after selecting the destination of the trip of the teenagers, which the drivers will not be able to change. Apart from this, a pin verification feature will also be given to check the ride.
