The bus full of devotees overturned.
Koraput: A major accident occurred in Koraput district of Odisha on Sunday morning. Four passengers died when a bus overturned here, while 40 others were injured. It is being told that this bus was going to Gupteshwar with about 50 devotees. During this time the driver lost control of the bus and the bus overturned. Odisha CM Mohan Charan Majhi expressed grief over this accident and also announced assistance for the families of the deceased.

Police said that this accident happened in Boipariguda police station area of Koraput district. The bus overturned at Dockrighat near Gupteshwar here at around 5.30 am. According to the police, the bus was going to Gupteshwar temple from Niyali in Cuttack carrying about 50 devotees. An official said that after receiving information about the accident, Border Security Force (BSF) and police teams reached the spot. After this, the injured passengers were hurriedly rescued and admitted to Boipariguda Hospital.
CM expressed grief
Officials said it is suspected that the driver lost control at a difficult turn on the hilly road. Officials said a 12-year-old child was also among the dead. He said the condition of many of the injured was said to be critical, many of whom had lost their arms and legs. He said that many women and children were also among the injured. Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has expressed grief over this accident. He also announced an ex-gratia amount of Rs 2 lakh each to the families of the deceased. Apart from this, Chief Minister Majhi also directed the officials to ensure treatment of seriously injured persons at the District Headquarters Hospital. (Input- PTI)
