On Thursday, the government has given permission to integrate Aadhaar-Saksham face authentication in the mobile app of private institutions. The government said that its aim is to make access to services for customers through the app. According to PTI news, an official statement said that the process will be easier as part of the standard operation process prescribed for the base authentication through the Aadhaar Good Governance Portal launched by the Ministry of Electronics and IT.
Will enable authentication anytime
According to the news, the portal will serve as a resource-rich guide, and provide a detailed standard operation process or sop for certification institutions how to apply and how to join for Aadhaar authentication. The statement said that face authentication can also be integrated into the customer-facing app of private institutions, which will enable authentication anywhere. The Ministry has launched the Aadhaar Good Governance Portal to streamline the approval process for the Aadhaar Authority request, which is after amendment to restore the reach of the specific ID verification system for private institutions.
There will be transparency in the decision making process
According to the official statement, the expansion of the scope of the Aadhaar authentication envisaged in the notified amendment at the end of January 2025 is expected to make life more easier and the new services of your choice are expected to facilitate free access. Online platform (swik.meity.gov.in) becomes effective after Aadhaar authentication for good governance (social welfare, innovation, knowledge) amendment rule, 2025, which was notified in the end of January 2025 under the Aadhaar (Financial and Other Subsidy, Benefits and Tarks of Services) Act, 2016. This amendment has been done to help improve transparency and inclusion in the process of making decisions.
The benefit of Aadhaar certification service will be available
The government notified an amendment to the Aadhaar Act on 31 January, so that private institutions could get permission to use Aadhaar certification to provide their services. The statement stated that the amendment enables both government and non-governmental institutions to enable innovation, proliferation of knowledge, make the lives of residents easier and to provide better access to services for them to provide various services in public interest for specific objectives to provide various services in public interest.

The statement stated that the new amendment enables the Aadhaar number holders to avail hassle-free services from many fields including hospitality, healthcare, credit rating bureau, e-commerce players, educational institutions and aggregator service providers. The statement said that service providers will also find it helpful for many things including the presence of employees, customers onboarding, e-KYC verification, examination registration etc.
