The Punjab government, led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, has appointed several star players including Hockey Team captain Harmanpreet Singh and women’s cricket team captain Harmanpreet Kaur as Punjab Police Service (PPS) officer. Harmanpreet Singh and Harmanpreet Kaur are among the seven sports personalities appointed as PPS officers. Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann himself handed over appointment letters to athletes. Apart from these two, the players appointed PPS officers include four other hockey stars and a shot potter. Mandeep Singh, Varun Kumar, Shamsher Singh and Dilpreet Singh are hockey players, while Tejinder Toor is a shot-putr appointed as PPS officer.
The Indian men’s team led by Harmanpreet Singh won a bronze medal at the Paris Olympics, which managed to finish podium in 2 consecutive Olympics. Captain Harmanpreet played an important role in winning the medal in the Paris Olympics and scored several important occasions. Earlier, India also won a bronze medal led by Manpreet Singh in the Tokyo Olympics 2021. Harmanpreet Singh is known as ‘Sarpanch’ for her brilliant game.
