Bisleri: There are very few names like Ratan Tata in the business world, who are known for their leadership and ethics. When Bisleri owner Ramesh Chauhan decided to sell his company in 2022, it was believed that the deal would be easily done with Tata Group. But there was a big twist in this story, which shocked everyone.
Bisleri – King of Water
In the last 50 years, Ramesh Chauhan made Bisleri a big brand. Today it is India’s largest packaged water brand, with 32% market share. Bisleri has 122 plants and a network of more than 4,500 distributors. But due to increasing age and lack of ability to handle active business, Chauhan decided to sell Bisleri. Many big companies were in the fray to buy the company, which included Tata Group. Tata offered Rs 7,000 crore to buy Bisleri, which was a huge amount.
Jayanti Chauhan’s big decision
However, Ramesh Chauhan’s daughter Jayanti Chauhan rejected the proposal. She decided that Bisleri would be kept independent and she would lead the company herself. This decision was a big change not only for him but also for the future of Bisleri.
Bisleri’s new journey
Under Jayanti’s leadership, Bisleri earned record breaking revenue of Rs 2,300 crore in 2022-23. He gave a new direction to the company and made many major changes. Jayanti expanded the product range, focused on connecting with young customers and gave Bisleri recognition in the international market. He adopted the right policies, digital technology and new thinking, which further strengthened Bisleri’s hold in the market.
Who is Jayanti Chauhan?
Jayanti Chauhan is the only daughter of Ramesh Chauhan. Jayanti, who grew up in Delhi, studied at America’s Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising (FIDM). Initially he was inclined towards fashion and designing, but with time he decided to take charge of Bisleri. Jayanti Chauhan has proved that she is capable of not only preserving her father’s legacy but also taking it to even greater heights.
