Now Sachin Tendulkar has accepted Melbourne Cricket Club’s invitation to become an honorary member. This has been confirmed by Melbourne Cricket Club by tweeting.
Melbourne Cricket Club, one of the oldest sporting clubs in Australia, was founded in 1838. It is responsible for the management and development of the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG), one of the sport’s premier venues. MCC posted an ‘X’ and wrote that an ‘icon’ was honoured. MCC is pleased to announce that former Indian captain Sachin Tendulkar has accepted Honorary Cricket Membership in recognition of his outstanding contribution to the game.
Indian batsman who scored most runs in MCG
Sachin Tendulkar is the Indian batsman who has scored the most Test runs at MCG. He has 449 runs to his name in five Test matches at this ground at an average of 44.90 and strike rate of 58.69. He has scored one century and three half-centuries on this ground. Earlier in 2012, Tendulkar was awarded the ‘Order of Australia’, one of the country’s highest honours. The MCG is currently hosting the fourth Test match of the five-match series between India and Australia.
Scored more than 15000 runs in test cricket
Sachin Tendulkar has scored a total of 15921 runs in 200 test matches for the Indian team, in which he has scored 51 centuries. He has 18426 runs in his name in 463 ODI matches. He has scored 49 centuries in ODIs. Whether he is playing at home or abroad. He has proved his batting prowess on every ground in the world.
