Due to the Central Government’s Make in India Mission, the market of mobile manufacturing in India is flourishing rapidly. The Icea i.e. the Indian Cellular and Electronic Association has estimated a new record in 2025. In FY 2025, India’s mobile exports can reach beyond 1.8 lakh crores. The agency has estimated 40% growth year after year. Currently, India has become a preliminary manufacturing hub for American mobile companies like Apple and Google.
PLI scheme advantage
Icea said in its statement, “This (export) shows about 40% increase compared to the previous financial year due to the PLI skin launched by the Central Government in FY 2020-21 and it crosses Rs 1,29,000 crore. Has done an increase of more than 680% since the onset of the scheme. “
The growth in the growth in mobile manufacturing in India has contributed to American brands such as Apple, Foxconn, Dixon Technology etc. America is the largest market of mobile phones made in India at this time. Between April 2024 to January 2025, India’s mobile phone export has crossed Rs 25,000 crore. This figure has overtaken the total export of FY 2021 by 22,868 crores.
India will become a global manufacturing powerhouse
After the launch of the PLI scheme, mobile production in India has doubled. It was Rs 2.20 lakh crore in FY 2021, which increased to Rs 4.22 lakh crore in FY 2024. According to the Icea, India’s mobile production can reach 5.1 lakh crores in FY 2025, which will make it a global manufacturing powerhouse.
India is directly benefiting from the ongoing trade war between China and American. Many American companies have decided to shift their manufacturing Unite from China to India. Companies like Apple are increasing their production every year in India. Google is also manufacturing its pixel smartphone in India. The UK company Nathing is also exporting its phones in India and exporting out.
