National Games 2025
Dev Kumar Meena of Madhya Pradesh won the gold medal in the Nation Games 2025 with a 5.32 meter national record at the men’s pole vault in Dehradun on 12 February. On the third day of the athletics competitions, eight gold medals were at stake, out of which Punjab won three while Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Army, Tamil Nadu and host Uttarakhand had one gold medal each. Nineteen -year -old Dev won the gold medal, defending his title of 2023 and also improved the 5.31 meter national record of S. Shiva which he created during the 2022 National Games in Gujarat. Earlier, Dev’s personal best performance was 5.20 meters, which he made last year while winning the India Open Under-23 competition in Patna.
Anushka Yadav created history
After the competition, Dev said that the journey to reach the national record has been very long. His biggest Sahara has been family and coach. He said that he comes from a farmer family and reaching this point has been full of struggles for him. Today he wanted to do something extraordinary and he created history. G Regan (five meters) of Tamil Nadu won Silver while Kuldeep Kumar (five meters) of Uttar Pradesh won the bronze medal. Anushka Yadav of Uttar Pradesh won the gold medal with an attempt of 62.89 meters of the Games in the female wire ball throw. Earlier, the record of National Games was in the name of Tanya Chaudhary of Uttar Pradesh, who won the gold medal in the 2023 National Games with an effort of 62.47 meters.
Gold in the name of Tejinder Pal Singh Toor
On Monday, Tanya finished second with an effort of 59.74 meters, while Nandini from Uttar Pradesh won the bronze medal with an effort of 58.89 meters. National record holder of Punjab won the gold medal with a 19.74 meter attempt in the men’s ball throw. The defending champion Samardeep Singh Gill (19.38 meters) of Madhya Pradesh and Prabhkripal Singh (19.04 seconds) of Punjab won silver and bronze mazal respectively. On Sunday, Jyoti Yaraji of Andhra Pradesh, who won the gold medal of the woman’s 100 meter hurdles, won her heat in 23.85 seconds and made it to the 200 meter finals. Sumit Kumar of the Army won the 3000 meter steeplechase gold with a time of eight minutes 46.26 seconds, while the 400m relay team of Tamil Nadu of Gitson Dharmare, Akash Babu, Vasan and Ashwin Krishna also won the title.
