Online train tickets cannot book without IRCTC account
You too must have booked tickets online for yourself at some time. While booking tickets online, you must have noted one thing that this is expensive than the counter ticket. Let us tell you that online train tickets can be booked only through IRCTC. If you are booking tickets from a third party app, then you will have to seek the help of IRCTC account. You cannot book tickets online without an IRCTC account. On booking tickets online, IRCTC charges convenors fees and GST from passengers. While on one hand, the convenience fees directly go to the IRCTC account, on the other hand, the money of GST goes to the government’s account.
Why online tickets are expensive by counter tickets
Shiv Sena (Uddhav Thackeray) leader Sanjay Raut raised a question in the Rajya Sabha at the cost of online ticket in the Rajya Sabha. Sanjay had asked why online tickets are expensive than counter tickets. In response to this question by Sanjay Raut, Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav replied that IRCTC has to spend a lot of money in the maintenance, upgradation and expansion of the onlight ticketing system. He informed that to compensate for these expenses, IRCTC charges the conveyance fees to book tickets from passengers.
80 percent passengers book online tickets
The Railway Minister informed that today IRCTC platform is being well liked to book train tickets across the country. He informed that 80 percent of the tickets to be booked in today’s time are booked online. The Union Minister said that due to online ticket booking facility, passengers do not have to wait for hours by going to the counter. This is not only saving the time of the passengers, but also saving their fare.
