During this time his highest score was 244 runs. He has scored 1316 runs in 50 ODIs. He captained Sri Lanka in 30 Tests between 2019 and 2023, winning 12 and 12.

All 16 centuries came as Test Opener

Dimuth Karunaratne made his international debut in International cricket in 2011 with an ODI against England in Manchester. All his 16 Test centuries have come as an opener. He is jointly on top with former captain Marvan Atapattu in the list of scoring the most centuries for Sri Lanka as an opener. His most memorable achievement in Tests is to defeat South Africa 2–0 at its home ground in 2019. Sri Lanka became the first Asian country to win on her home soil after South Africa’s return to Test cricket.
