Satellite calling
Satellite service is going to be launched in India soon. For this, the government has started preparations with full swing. After the start of this service, users will be able to send calls and messages without any SIM and mobile network. The race to start satellite service in India includes Airtel and Jio as well as Allen Musk’s company Starlink and Amazon Coopier. Calling via satellite will be quite different from the existing Taresterial mobile network. In this service, users will also be able to call from the area where mobile towers are not present.
With the introduction of satellite service, calling and internet facilities can be taken in remote areas such as mountains. This is the reason that the government is preparing to launch the satellite service. By December last year, the Department of Telecommunications was going to finalize things about network allocation for this service. However, no further update has come up to this yet.
What is the satellite network?
As it is clear from the name that a network can be accessed in satellite service without placing a tower on the ground. At present, telecom operators provide network to users through mobile towers. These mobile towers are connected to each other through optical fiber. In this, the signal is sent to a central station from where the model is distributed to subscribers.
This does not happen in satellite service. It is distributed from mobile signal direct satellite. The signal is sent to the receiver’s device via satellite from the base station on the earth. No mobile tower is required for this.
Elon Musk’s company Starling is currently testing direct-to-cell technology, in which the mobile signal can be sent and received from the direct-session device i.e. mobile phones. After the commencement of satellite service, users can also take calls and internet facilities from any area where mobile networks are not present. In this way emergency calling can be done without SIM card and mobile network.
