Airtel
Airtel users may once again get a major setback. The company can make mobile plans expensive again. The company’s CEO Gopal Vitthal has indicated this. Also, the mobile tariffa hike made by the company in July last year is also correct. In July 2024, all private companies, including Airtel, made their mobile plans expensive by 25%. Apart from this, the company is preparing to expand 5G network so that users can get better connectivity.
ARPU lowest in India
The company’s vice chairman and MD Gopal Vitthal said that India’s average revenue per user (ARPU) is still the lowest in the world, due to which tariff hike is necessary to get financial stability and cultural returns in the industry. Airtel’s CEO further said that we are no longer going to make any new investment for 4G network capacity. Instead we are focusing on additional 5G radio.
Airtel has recently given a contract of European vendors Nokia and Eriches Multi-Billion dollars for 4G and 5G network equipment. Airtel’s 5G users base has now crossed 120 million or 12 crores. In view of the increasing number of 5G users, the company has taken this big decision. 5G shipment is seen in the year from year to year. At present, 80 percent of smartphones in India are being launched with 5G connectivity.
