28.3 lakh new demat accounts were opened in January. This is the lowest level since November 2023. A total of 32.6 lakh demat accounts were opened in December 2024. This figure of new demat accounts is below the monthly figures of 38.4 lakhs of 2024. In late January, the total number of registered demat accounts with NSDL and CDSL was 18.81 crores, while the previous month figure was 18.53 crore.
