Karnataka: Instead of stitches on child’s wound, pasted with faviquic, parents made video, nurse suspended

In a government hospital in Karnataka, the nurse using ‘Faviquic’ was suspended instead of stitches on the wound. Faviquic is a chemical substance that sticks two things very strongly. It was decided to suspend the nurse in a meeting chaired by the Chief Secretary of the state government on Wednesday.

According to the statement issued by the Office of Health and Family Welfare Services Commissioner, “Faviquic” is an adhesive solution, its medical use is not allowed under the rules. In this case, the staff nurse, responsible for negligence in duty by using ‘Faviquic’ in the treatment of the child, was suspended after a preliminary report and the investigation is pending as per the rules. ”

The incident took place on 14 January

The incident occurred on 14 January at the Adoor Primary Health Center in Hanagal Taluka in Heveri district when seven-year-old Gurukishan Annappa Hosamani was taken by his parents to bleed a lot from a deep wound on his cheek. The parents recorded a video of the nurse, in which the nurse was trying to remove their anxiety by saying that she has been doing this for years and it is better because the stitches would have a permanent mark on the child’s face. He later filed an official complaint and also showed the video.

Outrage among locals

Instead of suspending the nurse Jyoti despite the video evidence, officials shifted her to the Haveri Taluka’s Taluka’s Taluka’s Taluka on February 3, causing resentment among the people. According to the statement, the child who was treated is good health and the concerned health officials have been instructed to monitor any adverse effects. (Input- PTI language)
