Snowfall in Himachal tourist destinations, Meteorological Department continues to alert thunderstorms

Shimla: Fresh snow was recorded in the high altitude areas of Himachal Pradesh, while the Meteorological Department on Wednesday issued a ‘Yellow’ alert, fearing thunderstorms and lightning in some districts. Snow took place at some places in Shimla, Kullu, Kinnaur, Lahaul and Spiti and Chamba districts. According to the Meteorological Department, there was snowfall in the famous tourist places Narkanda and Kufri in Shimla district, Dalhousie of Chamba and Manali and surrounding areas of Kullu districts.

Due to fresh snowfall, roads have become slippery in many places and Lahaul and Spiti police have advised passengers to avoid unnecessary travel. The Meteorological Department on Wednesday issued a ‘yellow’ warning for thunderstorms and lightning in parts of Una, Bilaspur, Hamirpur, Chamba, Kangra and Solan. In addition, the department warned of dense fog in Una, Bilaspur and parts of Mandi on Thursday and Friday.
