Today, December 24, one evening before Christmas, NASA’s spacecraft Parker Solar Probe will pass closest to the Sun. According to Indian time, at 5:10 pm, Parker will be at a distance of only 61 lakh km from the sun. This will be the first man-made object to reach so close to the Sun.
According to the NYT report, it is 7 times closer than any previous mission going towards the sun. While passing through the Sun’s outer atmosphere, Parker’s speed will be more than 6.9 lakh km/hour. This is the highest speed of any object made by humans so far and will break its old record.
According to Nikki Fox of NASA’s Science Mission, till now nothing has passed through the atmosphere of any star. This will be the first time that an object will pass through the star’s atmosphere. Parker will remain in the sun’s atmosphere for the next 3 days.
The temperature will be more than 1000 while passing close to the sun. Parker Solar Probe has so far reached closest to the Sun through flybys of the Sun 21 times. This region is called perihelion. Parker’s temperature will exceed 1,000 degrees Celsius when it passes close to the Sun.
During this time it will pass sliding in the sun’s atmosphere. The Sun is currently in its most active state. This is called solar maximum. Parker will send information about his journey to Earth on December 27. Till then he will remain out of contact.
Next year i.e. in 2025 also it will pass near the Sun twice. This mission will end next year. However, there is still fuel left in it to run for the next several years. But it will never go this close to the sun again.

Parker was launched 6 years ago Parker Solar Probe was launched by NASA on August 12, 2018. It was launched with the aim of closely studying the corona, the Sun’s outer atmosphere. Through this, efforts are being made to understand the system of solar winds.
It is also named after solar scientist Eugene Parker. Parker was the first to give information about solar winds. Eugene Parker died in 2022. For the first time, a spacecraft was named after a scientist while he was alive.
Parker Solar Probe flew close to the sun for the first time in 2021. For the first time in history, a spacecraft had passed so close to the Sun. It was designed to pass near the sun a total of 24 times. Today Parker will pass near the sun for the 22nd time.
To protect from the sun’s heat, it has been equipped with a 4.5-inch thick carbon-composite heat shield. ,
