The domestic stock market made a positive start to the last trading session of the week. Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) benchmark Sensex was seen trading at 76,613.28 with a rise of 92.9 points at 9.17 am on Friday. Similarly, Nifty of National Stock Exchange was also trading at the level of 23,235.10 with a rise of 29.75 points. When the market opened, a total of 1,308 shares advanced, 816 shares declined and there was no change in 158 shares. In the Sensex index, PowerGrid, Tata Steel, NTPC and Axis Bank were among the gainers, while Sun Pharma, Zomato and Maruti were the biggest losers.

According to the news, among the sectoral indices, Nifty Oil & Gas was seen on top with a gain of 1 per cent, followed by Nifty Metal and Realty, which were up 0.9 per cent and 0.6 per cent respectively. Nifty Bank, Auto, FMCG and IT sectors registered a gain of 0.2 percent. Nifty Pharma recorded the biggest decline of 1.6 percent.

The Bank of Japan raised the policy rate by 25 basis points to 0.5% – the highest since 2008 and in line with economists’ expectations. Japan’s benchmark Nikkei 225 index rose 0.74%, while the Topix gained 0.63%. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng index rose 1.63%, while China’s CS1300 benchmark gained 1.06%.
South Korea’s Kospi rose 0.64%, while the Kosdaq gained 0.75%. Australia’s S&P/ASX 200 was up 0.37%. In the US the S&P 500 rose 0.53% overnight, closing at 6,118.71, hitting an all-time intraday high for the second consecutive session.
