Dr. Homi Jahangir Bhabha
Homi Jahangir Bhabha, a great Indian scientist who was awarded the Nobel Prize, died on 24 January 1966. He was currently leading India’s nuclear program. He was 56 years old. His aircraft was a victim of the accident, killing 117 people including Bhabha. Ratan Tata, while paying tribute to Homi Jahangir Bhabha, said that he got a chance to know three great personalities in life. Mahatma Gandhi, Jawaharlal Nehru and Homi Jahangir Bhabha. Of these, only Bhabha can be called ‘Complete Man’.
Bhabha wanted to make atomic bombs
Homi Jahangir Bhabha received the Nobel Prize for working on cosmic rays. However, he worked on the atomic bomb at the peak of his career. He wanted to make atomic bombs in India. He started working on it during the time of Jawaharlal Nehru. He also celebrated Lal Bahadur Shastri to make atomic bombs. However, he died before the bomb was tested and about eight years later, King Ramanna and Homi Sethna tested the atomic bomb in May 1974.
How did Bhabha die?
Homi Jahangir Bhabha was offered an important position by Indira Gandhi. It is estimated that Bhabha could be made a cabinet minister and he was about to shift from Mumbai to Delhi. He had asked to accept this post after coming back from Vienna. After getting the ticket of Vienna, he laid the journey to Vienna one day due to his friend Pipsey Wadia and his plane fell victim to the accident. The debris of this plane was never found. Black box was not found. A book claimed that the CIA had placed a bomb in the plane. Because America did not want India to become nuclear power. However, the French inquiry committee said in its report that the accident occurred due to a misunderstanding between the pilot and air traffic controller amid heavy snowfall. India accepted this report.
America’s hand in Bhabha’s death?
The book ‘Conversation with the Crowe’ mentions a conversation between former CIA officer Robert Croly and journalist Gregory Douglas. The book quoted Crolie as saying that America was angry with India’s nuclear program. Amid the war with Pakistan, Indian Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri had asked Dr. Bhabha to do something big, but refused to test the bomb before the cabinet approval. In such a situation, the CIA conspired to first kill Shastri and then Bhabha. So that nuclear tests can be stopped in India. Dr. Bhabha Boeing was traveling by 707 aircraft. According to the book, the bomb was placed in the cargo hold of the aircraft, due to which the bursting caused a plane accident. However, the plan to kill 116 other people to kill a person is beyond comprehension. For this reason, this book is not considered reliable.
