Film producer and director Ram Gopal Varma has been convicted in a seven-year-old case and sentenced to 3 months in jail. Andheri Magistrate Court of Mumbai has sentenced film director and producer Ram Gopal Varma to 3 months imprisonment. The court has issued non-warrant against Ram Gopal Verma in the check bounce case due to his not being present during the hearing. This decision of the court has come before the announcement of his new project ‘Syndicate’.
Ram Gopal Verma sentenced in 7 year old case
Ram Gopal Verma was not present in the court on Tuesday during the hearing in an almost seven year old case. The court considered Ram Gopal Verma an accused under section 138 and in this case has also directed to pay compensation of Rs 3.72 lakh to the complainant on behalf of Ram Gopal.

In 2018, a case was filed against film producer Ram Gopal Varma’s company. Ram Gopal Varma has been facing financial crisis for few years, because his films are also not performing well. Apart from this, he also had to sell his office during the COVID-19 pandemic. In this case, the filmmaker was released on bail in June 2022 after filling a personal recognizance bond and paying a cash bail amount of Rs 5,000. Ram Gopal Varma is known for successful films like Satya, Rangeela, Sarkar and Company.
While sentencing Ram Gopal Verma on Tuesday, Magistrate YP Pujari said, “There is no question of set-off under Section 428 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973 as the accused has not spent any period in custody during the trial.”
