Indian benchmark indices Sensex and Nifty closed higher on January 22 after heavy fluctuations. The indices recovered from 7-month lows led by strength in technology stocks. However, the indices of small-medium stocks lagged behind significantly. Yesterday midcap and smallcap indices fell by more than 1 percent. At the end of the trading session, Sensex closed at 76,404, up 566 points (0.75 percent) and Nifty closed at 23,155, up 130 points (0.57 percent).

GIFT Nifty is trading with a slight decline. This indicates a flat to negative start to the day. Nifty futures are trading at 23,142.50 in the morning. At present, Gift-Nifty is seen at the level of 23,135 with a rise of about 39 points or 0.17 percent.

dollar index
The dollar is showing stability against major currencies on Thursday. It had remained almost stable for the past two days ahead of more concrete announcements on tariffs by US President Donald Trump. The dollar index looks stable at 108.25 after a two-day gain of about 0.1 percent.
US bond yield
US 10-year Treasury yields fell 13 basis points to 4.60 and 2-year Treasury yields fell 15 basis points to 4.29 in early trading on Thursday.
Asian market
Today there is a boom in Asian markets. Nikkei is trading with a gain of 0.46 percent. At the same time, Strait Times showed a rise of 0.67 percent. Hang Seng is trading with a rise of 0.37 percent. Kospi is trading with a weakness of 0.84 percent. At the same time, Shanghai Composite is showing a rise of 1.28 percent at the level of 3,254.88.
US market
Wall Street indices rose on Wednesday, with the benchmark S&P 500 hitting a record high intraday. The S&P 500 index rose 37.13 points, or 0.61 percent, to close at 6,086.37. The Nasdaq Composite added 252.56 points, or 1.28 percent, to 20,009.34. While the Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 130.92 points, or 0.30 percent, to 44,156.73.
FII and DII fund flows
Foreign institutional investors (FIIs) continued their selling for the 14th day and sold equities worth Rs 4,026 crore on January 22, while domestic institutional investors, on the other hand, bought equities worth Rs 3,500 crore on the same day.
