Share Market: Sensex rises, yet investors remain in loss of ₹ 2 lakh crore, there is an outcry in small and medium shares – share market today sensex nifty surges but mid and smallcap witness bloodbath investors lost over rs 2 lakh core

Share Market Today: Sensex and Nifty made a comeback on Wednesday, January 22 due to the rise in IT and banking stocks and closed in the green. Sensex closed 566 points higher. Whereas Nifty crossed 23,150. However, the bloodshed in Broader Market continued even today. BSE Midcap and Smallcap indices closed 1.2 per cent and 1.56 per cent higher respectively. Due to this, investors suffered a loss of about Rs 2 lakh crore in the stock market today. Sentiment around banking stocks remained strong due to stable results of HDFC Bank. However, on the other hand, a huge decline was seen in realty shares. Apart from this, there was selling in capital goods, power, utility and industrial shares also.

At the end of trading, BSE Sensex closed at 76,404.99, up 566.63 points or 0.75 per cent. Whereas NSE’s 50-share index, Nifty closed at 23,155.35 with a gain of 130.70 points or 0.57 per cent.

Investors lost ₹2.11 lakh crore

The total market capitalization of companies listed on BSE declined to Rs 421.96 lakh crore today on January 22, which was Rs 424.07 lakh crore on its previous trading day i.e. Tuesday, January 21. In this way, the market cap of companies listed in BSE has decreased by about Rs 2.11 lakh crore today. Or in other words, the wealth of investors has declined by about Rs 2.11 lakh crore.

These 5 Sensex stocks had the biggest rise

Today only 21 out of 30 shares of BSE Sensex closed in the green i.e. with gains. In this, Infosys shares had the highest rise of 3.16 percent. After this, shares of Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), Tech Mahindra, Sun Pharma and Bajaj Finserve closed with a gain of 1.63 per cent to 2.97 per cent.

These 5 Sensex stocks fell the most

Whereas the remaining 9 Sensex shares closed with a decline today. In this too, Tata Motors shares were the top loser with a decline of 2.24 percent. Whereas the shares of Power Grid, Axis Bank, State Bank of India (SBI) and NTPC saw a decline of 0.56 percent to 1.24 percent.

2,797 shares declined

The number of shares closed with losses on Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) today. A total of 4,059 shares were traded on the exchange today. Of these, 1,147 shares closed with gains. A decline was seen in 2,797 shares. While 115 shares closed flat without any fluctuations. Apart from this, 81 shares touched their new 52-week high during trading today. Whereas 155 shares touched their new 52-week low.
