7th Pay Commission: Modi government has given a gift to the central employees. The central government has allowed its employees to travel by Tejas, Vande Bharat and Humsafar trains under LTC. That is, central employees can avail the benefit of LTC by traveling in these trains. This step has been taken after suggestions from all offices and employees regarding different premium trains under LTC to the Department of Personnel and Training (DOPT).
In an order issued on Tuesday, the DoPT said that this department has looked into the matter in consultation with the Department of Expenditure and it has been decided that in addition to the existing Rajdhani, Shatabdi and Duronto trains, Tejas Express, Travel will be allowed in Vande Bharat Express and Humsafar Express trains. Central government employees availing LTC also get back the expenditure incurred on tickets for journeys.
Earlier last year, the government had extended the LTC timeline for many places. The Central Government has extended by two years the scheme for its employees to avail Leave Travel Concession (LTC) for travel to Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Andaman and Nicobar Islands and North-Eastern States. Now this scheme will be applicable from 26 September 2024 to 25 September 2026. Under this scheme, government employees can exchange their home town LTC to travel to these selected places.
Can LTC be used for air travel?
Government employees who are permitted to travel by air can claim air ticket expenses as per government rules. They can use the services of any airline under this scheme while traveling from their workplace, but it will be necessary to follow the terms and conditions. This scheme is a great opportunity for those government employees who want to visit these beautiful places of the country.
