The interim government of Bangladesh has canceled the program of 50 judges to come to India for training. Economic Times has given this information today quoting the spokesperson of Bangladeshi Law Ministry. All these judges and judicial officers were to come to India for training from February 10.

At the same time, according to news outlet Daily Star, the program has been canceled on the orders of the Supreme Court of Bangladesh. A day earlier, Bangladesh Sangbad Sanstha, run by the Yunus government, had issued a report saying that 50 lower court judges will participate in a one-day training at the National Judicial Academy and the State Judicial Academy in Madhya Pradesh.

The entire cost of the training program was to be borne by the Government of India. The trainee judges selected under the program were District and Sessions Judges or its equivalent officers, Additional District and Sessions Judges, Joint District Judges, Senior Assistant Judges and Assistant Judges.

Relations between the two countries deteriorated from 5 August 2024

Earlier on December 27, India delivered a consignment of 27 thousand tonnes of rice to Bangladesh. Relations between India and Bangladesh have been tense since 5 August 2024. Former Prime Minister of Bangladesh Sheikh Hasina has called the head of the interim government Mohammad Yunus a fascist. In a statement issued on December 15, a day before Bangladesh Victory Day, he had said that Mohammad Yunus was leading a fascist government. This government is anti-independence and supporter of fundamentalists.

On the other hand, Mahfooz Alam, advisor to Mohammad Yunus, head of the interim government in Bangladesh, had made a controversial post on December 16. In this, some parts of India’s Bengal, Tripura and Assam were shown in Bangladesh. On this matter, External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said in a press briefing – We have come to know that that post has been removed, but we are still Want to remind that they should be cautious about public comments. Such comments show that you need to be more responsible when making public comments.
