The side effects of Trump rule are beginning to emerge in America. Trump has put a stop to DEI (Diversity, Equity and Inclusion) programs. Because of this, the jobs of one lakh Indians are in danger. President Donald Trump has placed a freeze on DEI hiring and placed all DEI employees on paid leave through January 31.
Orders have also been given to close DEI offices in the states. A decision will be taken regarding the future of DEI employees on February 1. A report regarding DEI has been sought from all federal offices. Let us tell you that there are a total of 32 lakh federal employees in America.
Of these, 8 lakh employees work under the DEI program. Of these, about one lakh are Indians. This includes those holding US citizenship and working on work visas such as H-1B visas.
Indian students doing part time jobs are not included.
Equal opportunities for all sections through DEI
DEI program was started in America since 1960 to provide equal opportunities to all sections in employment, education and other fields. This was then President John F. Inspired by the ideals of Kennedy and Martin Luther King.
Federal and state governments employ religious and racial minorities. Women, disabled people and third gender also get jobs through this. There is a fixed quota in all government departments. America’s DEI program can be said to be like the reservation implemented for different sections in India.
In America, it is also mandatory for the private sector to provide jobs in DEI program. Meta, Boeing, Amazon, Walmart, Target, Ford, Molson, Harley Davidson and McDonald’s have announced the closure of DEI.
Only two big companies like Tim Cook’s Apple and retail store Costco have talked about continuing DEI.
Trump wants to increase jobs for whites
Trump calls ending DEI a matter of reservation in jobs and education based on merit. Out of America’s population of 35 crores, 20 crores are white. The white population is Trump’s core vote bank. These are anti-DEI.
12 crore white population works in government and private sector. Trump is creating more opportunities for white people in public-private jobs by ending DEI. Now the strictness of showing return tickets at the airport has started for those going to America on travel visa.
Recently, an elderly Indian couple was sent back to India from Newark Airport because they did not have return tickets. The couple had gone to their children with a plan to stay for five months. The couple claims that the immigration officers said that it has become mandatory to show the return ticket from January.
